Ukraine became the center of rhythmic gymnastics in Europe
The 36th European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship has ended in Kyiv. And now we can say that the competition in Ukraine was held at a high level. The European Championships, supported by the title partner Parimatch, brought together the best gymnasts from 23 countries, each looking forward to the tournament, which was postponed due to the pandemic from May to November.
For our athletes, the result of the European Championship was 3 gold medals, 2 silver and 1 bronze. The national team of Ukraine won the awards of the highest grade in the team championship, in the exercise with five balls and Polina Karika took another gold medal (performance with the ball, juniors). Silver was won in the exercise with hoops and clubs, also the second place was taken by Karina Sidorak (performance with a ribbon, juniors). The Ukrainian won the bronze medal in the group stage.
We have shown that despite any difficulties we can host international competitions. This is an invaluable experience for our country and it can give impetus to the development of rhythmic gymnastics and sports in general.
Vadym Misyura, Parimatch’s representative: “The European Championship is an important event for the image of our country. 115 athletes took part in the tournament, in total about 500 representatives of 23 countries visited Ukraine as part of the delegations. The sports holiday was a success thanks to the joint work of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Gymnastics Federation of Ukraine and socially responsible business. It can be stated that the competition was held at a high level.
Our gymnasts received well-deserved awards, and junior girls showed that we have a worthy change. Other competitions are ahead of the national team of Ukraine, including the Olympics, and we hope for victories of Ukrainian athletes. ”
First Vice-President of the Ukrainian Gymnastics Federation Iryna Deryugina: “Many people did not believe until the last minute that we would still hold the championship. Despite the difficulties, we managed to organize sports competitions at the highest level. The most important thing is that we have saved children in gymnastics, because this sport cannot exist without competitions. Without the help of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and such important partners as Parimatch, all this would not have happened. “
Parimatch has joined the fundraising platform UNITED24. The company has already provided significant financial assistance and is now joining media support, featuring world sport stars.
