European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship takes part in Kyiv this week
On Thursday, November 26, the 36th European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship takes part in Kyiv. Gymnasts from 23 countries are coming to Ukrainian capital, such as Belarus, Bulgaria, France, Hungary, Romania, Israel, Turkey, Croatia, Czech Republic and others.
“We have done everything possible and impossible for this competition to take place this year in Kyiv. The 23 countries that are coming to the Championship is a feat for the sake of sports to preserve gymnastics and save the Olympic Games. Psychologically, physically and morally it was difficult to endure this year. I am happy about what Ukraine is now demonstrating, it is worth fighting for sports. We will carry out the European Championship at the highest level,” said Iryna Deriugina, first vice president of the Ukrainian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation.
The stars of rhythmic gymnastics are coming to Kyiv: bronze medalist of the 2019 World Cup Linoy Ashram (Israel), silver medalist of the 2019 European Championship Alina Hornosko (Belarus), bronze medalist of the 2019 European Championship Katrin Taseva (Bulgaria) and many others.
According to the Minister of Youth and Sports Vadym Hutsait, the competition will be held without spectators. “Today it is a difficult time for sports in the world and in Ukraine. But we are very pleased that rhythmic gymnastics is running, athletes are preparing for competitions, for the Olympic Games. Two months ago the Deriugina Cup was held at a high level in Kyiv, international partners appreciated this. And now we are carrying out the European Championship,” Hutsait emphasized.
Farid Gayibov, a president of European Gymnastics, said that three European Championships are planned this year. The first of them, in rhythmic gymnastics, is taking place in Ukraine. The Kyiv Palace of Sports will be equipped in accordance with all anti-epidemic standards. We had to prepare a fairly large document with recommendations. Of course, this causes some inconvenience to the organizers, but I am grateful that they were able to prepare everything accordingly,” Gaibov said.
In the run-up to the European Championship, the competition acquired a strong partner, No.1 patron of sports in Ukraine, the Parimatch brand.
“For us this is a great opportunity to hold the European Championship at the highest level and give people a real holiday. The task of the Parimatch brand is to continue to cheer people up with emotions and expand the partnership horizons. Being a patron of Ukrainian sports, we understand how important the role of socially responsible business is now in the development of sports. We are assured that both gymnasts and fans will receive a lot of positives from this tournament,” the Parimatch representative Vadym Misiura commented.
Parimatch has joined the fundraising platform UNITED24. The company has already provided significant financial assistance and is now joining media support, featuring world sport stars.
