Parimatch and UHL held a presentation of the 2020/21 anniversary season
The heads of the Ukrainian Hockey League and Parimatch representatives summed up the 2019/20 season, and presented an official report on the work done for the past hockey year. The final report includes not only the sporting achievements of UHL clubs and players, but all events organized by the UHL, as well as major off-sports achievements of the League.
The main event of the day was the presentation of the new anniversary season, which from the very beginning went down in the history of Ukrainian hockey. Each speaker emphasized changes in the format of the new championship, expansion of the League’s participants, as well as goals and objectives for the 2020/21 season.
In addition to changes regarding the sports part, the UHL revealed surprises it is preparing for fans in the new season, presented a new trophy, the Parimatch Opening Cup, and spoke about medical changes in the rules of the competition, introduced due to the epidemiological situation in the world.
UHL Executive Director Oleksiy Braga noted that with each new season the League sets more ambitious tasks:
— For the fifth year in a row we hold the Ukrainian Hockey League Championship and with every year we reach a new level setting a higher bar with our achievements. The 2019/20 season was unpredictable, that filled it with more interest, tension and spectacle.
The 2020/21 season is going to be even more vivid and interesting: two absolute beginners of Ukrainian hockey were added to the championship. Moreover, the legendary Falcon was revived. Total of 8 teams in the championship means more competition within the League, more intense fight for medals. The entire Ukrainian Hockey League is working to ensure that hockey gains new and new fans, and matches surprise with their tension and emotions every time.
Parimatch representative Vadym Misiura on sports in Ukraine:
— This is the most difficult year for all sports, and therefore it is important for Parimatch to develop hockey together with the UHL. It is no coincidence that our 5-year cooperation led to the fact that the number of teams in the league has increased: following a six-year pause the Kyiv Sokil returned to the championship and joined absolute beginners, Mariupol and Kramatorsk.
In the new season we again plan to please fans with spectacular promotions from the UHL, continue our unique project “Training with a Star”, and develop innovative digital projects.
In addition to the heads of the UHL and Parimatch representatives, active hockey players Kremenchuk defender Oleksandr Boiovykh, Donbas striker Vitaliy Lialka, as well as a captain of the revived Kyiv Sokil Feliks Morozov also talked to the media. The players shared their expectations of the new season and told how important it is for the Championship to expand the participants, build new arenas and increase competition among clubs and players.
Following the formal part, guests of the event were given the opportunity to participate in a cyber tour with NHL20 and test their strengths in virtual hockey.
Parimatch has joined the fundraising platform UNITED24. The company has already provided significant financial assistance and is now joining media support, featuring world sport stars.
