How people became e-sports players and champions when the Internet only emerged
Twelve, a unique project about 12 Ukrainians who have succeeded in e-sports, continues to gain momentum. The characters of the publications are ordinary people, but each of them has already become an iconic figure in the world of e-sports. The project’s stories reveal the gaming industry from inside, exposing all secrets of e-sports and demonstrating how exciting it is. The project was initiated by Parimatch, the No.1 bookmaker in the world of e-sports.
Readers have already learned about different ways in the world of gaming, how the boys began building a career related to sports, but became real stars in e-sports. An incredible story, almost a fairy tale about a charming girl who worked as a teacher, fled the war and found herself in a completely new world has already been told.
Today we are going to tell you about Arseniy Ceh9 Trynozhenko (Senia), an e-sports commentator, analyst, streamer and ex-coach of the PRO100 team.
Computer clubs in basements, tournaments for a box of beer and the Internet that downloads a video clip for two days. Senia’s strory of the times when he just started playing resembles his grandfather’s fables at family gatherings. Although he is only 31, but it seems as if during the conversation him stroking his bushy beard speaks of long-forgotten times.
“Literally from the age of 2-3 I was already sitting at the PC,” Senia remembers. “To be honest, I don’t know how games reached us. Some of them were pre-installed. There were these wide floppy disks. Probably people remember only small square ones now. But prior to that, there were rectangular and thin, similar to small plates. They had 720 KB of memory (nothing to compare with that amount of information now), and one game took up 3-4 of such floppy disks.”
Early in his professional career he had 0:15 defeat at a major tournament, but didn’t give up and subsequently won three consecutive world championships at Counter Strike in one year. This is one of the greatest achievements in the history of world e’sports. The year 2010 brought the golden lineup of Na’Vi more than 100 thousand dollars and the title of the strongest team in the world. Their achievements remained unsurpassed for more than 7 years.
But after encountering health problems, Senia felt he wasn’t coping anymore, neither emotionally nor gamewise. He did not look for a new team, but decided to finish his career as an e-sportsman.
“I sat down as a grown-up thinking that sooner or later the end of a career comes to everyone,” he explains. “And the sooner you move to a new direction, the sooner you’re acquiring some skills, the sooner you adapt and be all right. And when my teammates get disinterested in professional gaming, I will already be at a different level in another field.”
Senia started by commenting on tournaments, streaming his games and tournament matches and found himself at the analytics studio. Now his broadcasts gather up to 5-7 thousand viewers, and the channel on YouTube gradually approaches the mark of 500 thousand subscribers. It seems that no major event in CS:GO occurs without his commenting.
