Parimatch and UHL held training for amateurs in Ternopil

On February 13 and 14, the fifth all-Ukrainian amateur hockey championship “Ternopil Hockey Classic – 2021” took place in Ternopil. As part of the competition, which was attended by about 20 amateur teams, UHL and Parimatch held a traditional “Training with a Star”, but in a completely unusual format.

The master class for the participants of “Ternopil Hockey Classic – 2021” was held by the four-time champion of Ukraine, captain of the national team, sports director of UHL -Olexandr Pobedonostsev.

During the open master class, participants conducted a series of exercises to improve technical skills, skating, stick ownership and gave valuable advice. Olexandr Pobedonostsev also helped the “students” to improve their technique and told about the secrets of their skills.

UHL sports director Oleksandr Pobedonostsev admitted that for the first time he gave a master class to fans:

– To be honest, I trained amateurs for the first time and for me it is also a new and interesting experience. So I think that both the participants and we, the coaches, were able to learn a lot of valuable lessons.

The guys train, try, ask us a lot of questions. They are very interested in hockey, including technical nuances. How to throw or punch bullets.

I think that such events are important not only for hockey, but also for all sports. It’s great when experienced professional players help amateurs and give them the opportunity to realize themselves at this stage.

Oleksandr Tyshchenko, a player of the local basketball club “Ternopil”, also supported “Training with a Star”, who made a symbolic throw-in in the match for the first place “Ternopil Hockey Classic – 2021”

Professionals rarely give open master classes to amateurs, which attracted players from many amateur teams to the event, who gladly followed all the instructions of the coaches and asked their questions along the way.

Tournament organizer Georgy Khvychiya-Duve shared his impressions after the training:

– We are holding the Ternopil Hockey Classic tournament for the fifth time and this year we were supported for the first time by professional hockey – the Ukrainian Hockey League and Parimatch. It’s great that there is attention to such tournaments, it promotes our sport and helps it develop.

“Training with a star” even for amateurs is a huge experience. It is great when there is an opportunity to train with the stars of Ukrainian hockey, to adopt their skills and knowledge. So I hope that we will keep the new tradition and continue to work together.

Parimatch representative Vadim Misyura spoke about the second training for amateurs in the all history, and also emphasised the importance of expanding the scope of the already traditional event:

– The geography of the “Training with a Star” project is expanding this year. The main thing in such events is the communication of fans and journalists with athletes. Thanks to our project, we learn what teams live for, what problems there are in sports – and together we help each other.

Now is a difficult time for sports, it is necessary to maintain interest in competitions.

At the end of the training, the participants held a two-way match to consolidate the acquired skills and knowledge. By the way, the star coaches also took part in the match, who gave valuable advice to their “students” during the game.
