“Ukraine can become a leader in the gaming industry”

Head of Legal Department of Parimatch UkraineMykhailo Koval told to the publication “Focus about how much the company paid for the license and what else needs to be done to get the business up and running.

Bookmaking license is the most expensive in the world

So far, Ukraine has the most expensive bookmaking license in the world. The license to conduct gambling in a casino costs 30 thousand minimum wages, but before the commissioning of the state online monitoring system, this figure is tripled, ie 90 thousand. minimum wages. It turns out 540 million UAH is divided into level payments for a period of five years. The license for slot machines is much smaller, about UAH 45 million. Our company was the first to apply for a license. There were no special difficulties, only some misunderstandings in filling out the forms.

We are waiting for online monitoring of players

Business can already work. In order to work legally, there is a law. The list of gambling equipment and the list of certification bodies have already been approved. But to make business and their players feel comfortable, it is necessary to pass a law to reduce the tax rate. In addition, there should be a system of state online monitoring – the main software that controls the operator, which sends real-time information about bets, players, amounts, payouts and more. That’s what will result in a special gambling tax. And while there is no such online monitoring, there is a triple license fee.

Ukrainian Las Vegas

We have all the conditions for growth. On the one hand, we have Turkey, where, in addition to betting on dog racing, gambling is prohibited. On the other hand, Poland, where there are problems with personal income tax, so Poles play on international sites. Belarus is our competitor, they have loyal conditions for the gambling business, and taxes are much lower than ours. But we can compete for the players if Bill 2713-D is passed. It is also important to understand that the gambling business is not just about betting and games, it is also about infrastructure and the development of tourist areas. And the creation of a conditional “Las Vegas” must be approached comprehensively, together with relevant organizations and the public.
