Football training for children with disabilities took place in Poltava
In October 2019 Parimatch Foundation and Shakhtar Social jointly launched football classes for children with disabilities within the framework of their projects — respectively, "Yes, I can!" and "Come on, play!". On March 1, an open training took place in Poltava on the territory of school No5.
In the morning on the day of the match against FC "Vorskla" the first assistant head coach of FC "Shakhtar" Vitor Severino, coach with goalkeeper António Ferreira and defender Vitao attended the training of children with disabilities. Guests played football with their children, handed out autographs, handed gifts and held a small photo shoot.
It should be noted that pupils of school No5 are volunteers of classes for children with disabilities, which promotes socialization.
"We are grateful for the fate that talented and merciful footballers visited us today. Their business is s very necessary for children of social categories and their parents. Our physical education teacher works with enthusiasm and curiosity every Saturday, and children expect a new meeting every time", commented Tamara Zhaga, director of school No 5.
Classes for children with mental and physical disabilities are held in Kyiv, Lviv, Kharkiv and Poltava. The total number of participants is 120. Each city has 2 groups of 15 children.
"For Parimatch Foundation, socialization of children with inclusion through sports and physical activity is very important. Poltava has become the third city within the framework of the program "Yes, I can!". And it is wonderful that in this school the students became volunteers of classes. The key mission of our project is to make training and physical activity as accessible as possible for inclusive children throughout Ukraine", said Kateryna Belorussian, President of the Parimatch Foundation.
Secretary of poltava city council Oleksandr Shamota stressed that the city makes every effort to develop accessibility in general and inclusive education, and the development of children in particular.
"We must keep up with the times and meet the world's standards of accessibility. Today we are constantly working to improve the infrastructure of the city to create accessibility in educational institutions, cultural institutions. We provide affordable inclusive education. This initiative of funds allows self-realization of children, who will be difficult to engage in general sections on a par with other peers. And Poltava, it is worth noting, never lags behind in paralympic sports, so those who are fond of football should be opened all doors", – said Shamota.
