Oleh Omelchuk and Olena Kostevych are bronze medalists of the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo
Shooters Oleh Omelchuk and Olena Kostevych brought Ukraine their third medal at the Tokyo Games. Our athletes won a bronze medal in the new Olympic discipline – team shooting with a small-caliber pistol from a distance of 10 meters.
Experienced Serbs Zorana Arunovic and Damir Mikec faced the Ukrainians in the fight for the third step of the pedestal. Damir has already won silver in the individual championship of pistol shooters at these games, and Zoran in 2010 became the world champion in this discipline.
At first, our athletes took the lead, but then lost three series in a row. However, they were able to pull themselves together, regain the advantage and bring the victory.
We went to this award persistently for a long time. And today was still a difficult day – luck switch with failure and vice versa. Oleh is a great man, and this award is very valuable for us. Like gold. It was said that the flag-bearer could not win a medal. I never believed it. It was a great honor to carry the flag of my country. And I am happy that we managed to win this award for the country, – Olena Kostevych shared her emotions after the victory.
Thus, Olena Kostevych won the fourth medal at her fifth Games. For Oleh Omelchuk, who previously participated in three Olympics, this award was the first in his career.
Parimatch is proud of Ukrainian athletes and congratulates Oleh and Olena on their historic victory. We are waiting for the new achievements of the national team of Ukraine at the Olympic Games and we support the whole country!
