The national Paralympic team received upgraded wheelchairs from the Parimatch team
On August 16, on the eve of the Paralympic swimming team’s departure for Tokyo, a meeting with the Parimatch Charitable Foundation and Parimatch took place in the Kupava swimming pool in Brovary. The occasion for the meeting was a special partnership support of the National Paralympic Team of Ukraine and the National Paralympic Committee of Ukraine before the Paralympics in Tokyo 2020.
The team needed modern wheelchairs and turned to the Parimatch Foundation for help. Sports achievements of Ukrainian Paralympians directly depend on comfortable living conditions and training, so the initiative was joined by Parimatch Ukraine, which supports Ukrainian sports at all levels. As part of the company’s sustainable development program, wheelchairs for the Paralympic swimming team were upgraded.
We really appreciate the strong cooperation of our partners with the National Sports Committee for the Disabled of Ukraine, which began a few years ago with the support for children with disabilities, gifted in sports – “Yes, I can!”. And today we are especially grateful that they responded to our request at a critical moment for the national team of Ukraine: at a time when there were not enough funds for an improved, adapted for each athlete, version of wheelchairs for the national team of the 2020 Paralympics. We are grateful for this help, for the ability to put our strong shoulder in a very difficult moment, – said President of the National Paralympic Committee of Ukraine Valerii Sushkevych.
Athletes of the national team are satisfied with the quality of wheelchairs and are confident that this will provide additional opportunities for high sports results of Ukrainian para-athletes at the Summer Paralympic Games. The swimming team includes 39 athletes. In particular, Elizaveta Mereshko, who will become Ukraine’s flag bearer in Tokyo, shared her emotions – multiple champion and bronze medalist of the Paralympics in Rio noted that any support is important, both in word and deed.
These boys and girls are heroes! Thanks to them, the Ukrainian flag is raised on the world sports arena, and the anthem is heard in different parts of the world. At a time when our Paralympians needed help, Parimatch, as a socially responsible company, simply could not stay away. We hope that our small contribution will help our athletes to reach new heights and we believe that the Ukrainian Paralympic team will occupy the highest places in the team standings in Tokyo, – said Director of Sustainable Development of Parimatch Ukraine Vadym Misyura.
Journalists, Paralympians and representatives of the foundation had the opportunity to communicate in informal circumstances and wish success in performances at the most important competitions in the life of every paraathlete. High results of Ukrainian athletes encourage caring and responsible business to support and develop sports in all spheres of life.
As part of the charity program of the Parimatch Foundation, a motivational training with a professional boxer took place.
The Foundation, in partnership with HC Sokil, has initiated the Training with a Star project for the second time.
Everyone will be able to get on the rink regardless of age and ability to skate.
