Ihor Reislin won a bronze medal in fencing at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo
Ukrainian swordsman Ihor Reislin won a bronze medal in the final of the men’s tournament at the Olympics in Tokyo. Before Ihor Reislin, none of the Ukrainians had yet managed to reach the semifinals of the men’s individual foil.
In the semifinals, Reislin lost to Frenchman Romain Cannone. And in the fight for “bronze” the Ukrainian athlete defeated the Italian Andrea Santarelli.
Prior to this victory, the biggest victory of the 37-year-old Reislin was a bronze medal at the 2019 World Cup. Many people note that his talent was fully revealed at the end of his sports career. After all, before that he did not participate in the Olympics and did not occupy high places in the international rankings.
After the fight he was happy, for the first time in a long time he even shouted. Usually I don’t shout. I also want the team to bring a medal. After the semifinals I was very upset because I wanted to get to the final. He was upset and had to break and rebuild himself to fight for bronze. If I had reached the final immediately after the semifinal in this state, I would have definitely not won anything. We have a very unpredictable sport, – said Reislin.
Ihor’s medal became the second for Ukraine at the Games in Tokyo. The first prize, also bronze, was won by Daria Bilodid in judo.
Parimatch congratulates Ihor on his historical achievement and the highest level in his career. For Ukraine, Reislin’s achievements will go down in history. Thank you!
