Parimatch’s fighter Yaroslav Amosov is the first Ukrainian Bellator champion!
On the night of June 11-12, a fight took place between Ukrainian fighter Yaroslav Amosov and welterweight champion Douglas Lima.
The Ukrainian won by a unanimous decision of judges – 50-45, 49-46, 49-46 .
This victory was the 26th for Amosov, and he’s never lost in MMA. The record series in mixed martial arts belongs to the ex-UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov – 29-0.
Yaroslav is the first Ukrainian to become a champion of promotion.
Lima suffered his second defeat in a row – in October last year, he rose to the middleweight division, but failed to try to become a double champion, losing points in the title fight with Gegard Mousasi.
The experienced Brazilian, who has been in the Bellator promotion for ten years, did not succeed in the fight with Amosov. It was assumed that Douglas would be significantly better than Yaroslav in the rack, but recently the Ukrainian has raised the level not only of percussion, but also movement and work at a distance.
As a result, Amosov easily kept his opponent at a comfortable distance, constantly moving behind his back, and the only dangerous moment from the Brazilian – a middle kick to the block.
In response, Yaroslav either avoided attacks or responded in a few skirmishes with blows, but mostly dragged his counterparts to his territory – transferred to the ground floor and twisted it on the canvas of the cage.
A few seconds before the final gong of the fifth round, the Ukrainian made him nervous. The Brazilian still stretched out the hand of the Ukrainian fighter and tried to hold the pain.
But Yaroslav resigned and brought the case to a logical conclusion. According to statistics, Amosov not only beat his opponent, but also boxed. He threw more shots (152 against 80), hit more (74 against 33). And, of course, spent more takedowns – one in each round.
Confident dominance ended with emotions from the Ukrainian. And victory by a unanimous decision of the judges. Yaroslav dedicated the conquered belt to his son, who should be born in late summer. The whole audience chanted “Yarik” and “Dynamo” – the nickname of the Parimatch’s fighter.
As I promised, the belt goes to Ukraine. I am very pleased that there are so many of you who believed in me and supported me. Many people took part in my training, I am grateful to everyone. Thanks to my team for the work done.
Always dream, always believe in yourself and know that hard work is always rewarded – wrote Amosov on his Instagram page after the fight.
Parimatch is proud to work with the best Ukrainian MMA fighter and sincerely congratulates Yaroslav on winning the long-awaited Bellator championship belt. Only victories and new achievements are ahead. It is proved that together we are ready to win!
