Anzhelika Terliuga won silver in karate at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo
Ukrainian karateka Anzhelika Terliuga became a silver Olympic medalist. She lost in the final of the Olympics in Tokyo in the category up to 55 kg. Ukrainian lost to Bulgarian Ivet Goranova – 1: 5 . Goranova is a bronze medalist of the European and World Championships.
On the way to the decisive fight for gold Terliuga effectively passed the tournament bracket. She won her group and reached the semifinals in first place. There she defeated Wen Tzu-Yun from Chinese Taipei by the decision of the judges in the last seconds of the meeting.
I dreamed about this medal. Of course, I dreamed of a different color award, but today I did everything I could. Sorry it’s not gold. But for me it’s white gold. I gave my all for these 5 years. I think that today will remain in my memory forever, – said Terliuga already in the status of the winner of the silver medal of the Olympics.
Anzhelika brought Ukraine the first Olympic karate award in history. This sport is presented for the first time at the Olympics. Stanislav Horuna and Anita Seryogina, who are also contenders for the medal, will also compete on our behalf.
