Innovative teachers received UAH 500,000 for their projects from the Parimatch Foundation
On November 25, there were the awards and discussion of the initiatives of P.E. teachers who made it to the finals of the competition from the Parimatch Foundation. Teachers offered innovative methods of physical education in schools and received grants totaling UAH 500,000.
Physical education is often an underestimated subject in the school curriculum, and its teachers usually do not receive the recognition they deserve. The Parimatch Foundation’s competition of Innovative Teachers’ Project fixes this problem: through competitive selection, the P.E. teachers who have proposed the best initiatives have received the attention and resources they deserve to develop their ideas. At the event, they discussed their findings with experts in the studio.
«Innovative teachers are about breaking down stereotypes about teaching physical education at school and their own innovative approaches to the subject and students. I was pleasantly surprised by the quantity and quality of works submitted to the competition. I am sure that with such teachers physical education has a great future!“- said Kateryna Biloruska, president of the International Charitable Foundation Parimatch Foundation and a member of the jury.
«Now the issue of physical activity of students and children with special educational needs is very relevant. We, as a ministry, together with our friends-partners and teachers are looking for new methods and approaches in these areas. We hope that this event will become an annual one, and for our part we will support this initiative“, – noted Yevheniy Bazhenkov, executive director of the Institute for Modernization of the Content of Education, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
The event was also attended by Roman Greba, president of the Ukrainian Federation of Student Sports, Miroslav Dutchak, the first vice-rector for scientific and pedagogical work of the National University of Physical Education and Sports of Ukraine, Ilya Shevlyak, president of the Public Union “Sports Committee of Ukraine” and Olena Gavrilenko, head of the Department of Healthy Lifestyle Development of the Department of Physical Culture and Non-Olympic Sports of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
The members of the jury noted the introduction of interesting methods of teaching physical education by teachers. The finalists introduced elements of fitness, combat hopak, and skateboarding into the lessons. In addition, teachers use YouTube, Instagram and Tiktok to work remotely with students. All this increases the interest of students in physical development.
Parimatch Foundation systematically develops school physical education. This year, the foundation has developed a course “New Physical Culture” on the Prometheus platform, thanks to which physical education teachers across Ukraine can improve their skills and diversify lessons. The foundation also organized a conference “Innovations in Physical Education”, during which specialists in physical development of children shared their experiences live.
«In the course I liked that the emphasis is on the fact that the teacher is a leader. There is an increased attention to quality communication in the system of teacher-children-parents, disclosed strategies for creating a safe educational environment, raised the topic of useful habits of teachers that allow you to save resources. Thanks to the foundation and for the conference, a strong team of speakers was gathered who taught to think in a new way “, – shared the finalist of the competitionOlena Aksonova , head of the municipal institution “ZOIPPO” of Zaporizhia Regional Council.
25 initiatives of teachers from Kyiv, Kherson, Zaporizhia, Mykolaiv, Kirovohrad, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Khmelnytsky, Odesa, Chernihiv, Sumy, Volyn regions reached the finals of the competition. They proposed projects in four areas:
