Yaroslav Amosov: If I succeed in something, I will do my best to be the best
About coming to great sports, friendship, strength of discipline, self-belief and attitude to defeats, – says Ukrainian sambo fighter of mixed martial arts Yaroslav Amosov.
Yaroslav Amosov is a 27-year-old Ukrainian athlete, four-time world champion, Eurasian champion, three-time European champion and multiple champion of Ukraine in martial sambo. Yaroslav is also the winner of the European Cup and the Cup of Ukraine, Honored Master of Sports of Ukraine. He has been performing at the professional level in MMA since 2012.
After graduating from school, I entered the Irpin Fiscal Academy and studied law. At that time, I had no idea that my passion for sports would grow into something more professional.
Over time, I realized that sambo no longer gives me anything, so at the same time I began to engage in mixed martial arts. By that time, I already had a few fights in MMA and even set a record. However, until I signed a contract with the American Mixed Martial Arts Organization Bellator, I performed without a promotion, so everything was in the red. I spent more on myself than I made a profit. At the beginning of my career, my friends helped me to ensure a normal sports life. Of course, the family helped in part. Sometimes acquaintances who saw my results helped as well. I understood that I was succeeding and needed to move seriously.
Usually my preparation for battle lasts 2-3 months. I will not say that I have any special rituals, it’s just a training process on a clear schedule.
Often before a fight I need to lose weight to fight in a certain weight category. It’s always the hardest part. At the moment my weight is 92 kilograms. For fight, for example, you need 77 kilograms. I try to get in shape gradually. I have a regimen and a doctor who monitors my diet, tests and prescribes the necessary vitamins.
After the fight I relax and rest. Then I can afford something “forbidden”. But I wouldn’t say that I want, for example, hot dogs or something like that. I’m not obsessed with sports promotion. Kinda: “Do you smoke? You should not smoke! Do you drink alcohol? It’s unhealthy! ”
Everyone has their own choice and everyone lives as he wants. I have already made my choice. I see the goal and I want to move towards it. You see, I am one of those people who are motivated by the result, not its absence. If I succeed, I will do my best to be the best.
During my career in MMA, I had 25 fights and 25 victories. But it is still difficult for me to giva an answer to how a person who has never been defeated feels. All because even after a victorious fight sometimes I think it was a failure. For example, I tune in to a fight, thinking: “Now everything will be cool!”, Go to the ring, win the fight and realize that I can do better. It is better to fight. Better to breathe.
